I just have to show a couple more of my favorites of the sweet 6 month old baby girl that came earlier in the week. I'm going to order a large print of the black and white picture for the studio.

I am so excited to announce our first annual Winston-Salem's Cutest Kid Contest!

Do you have the cutest kid in Winston-Salem? How does a free session and other great prizes sound?

Here's what you need to do:

1. Leave a comment either here or on our Facebook page about the contest.
2. Email a photo (non-professional photos only please) and the name of your child to nicole@nicolenelsonphoto.com by noon on Friday, March 5, 2010. You can enter one photo per child, one child per photo.
3. VOTE, and tell your friends and family to vote! The voting will start on our blog on Sunday, March 7th and will end at midnight on Wednesday, March 10th.

The winner will be announced on Thursday, March 11th.

The grand prize winner will receive:

• Complimentary photo session
• Complimentary 8x10 print
• Two Complimentary wallet size accordion mini books with images from the session

There will be prizes for 2nd & 3rd place as well!

The session will occur at our studio in Clemmons or on-location (park, your home, etc).

Photography Workshop

I'm way behind posting about this but still wanted to share. In January I went to an awesome photography workshop in Baltimore. I have been following Jodie Otte's blog for a while and absolutely love her work. In late 2009 she announced that she was having some workshops and my husband knew how much I would love to so he suggested I do it! The workshop was great and I use what I learned from her everyday. She was so nice and honest and answered any and every question we asked her. There were only two of us at her workshop (she only allows up to 4 people per workshop) so we really received one-on-one treatment. One of the really great things was she showed us how she uses studio lighting to imitate natural lighting and now I'm hooked!

I also met a really nice photographer from the Minneapolis area while at the workshop. I have a lot of friends and family around there and am hoping if you are reading this and are thinking about having some pictures done, you consider her. Baby Girl | Winston Salem Photographer

Look at this beauty! Her parents brought her to the studio this morning for her six month pictures. I fell in love with her big blue eyes and gorgeous long dark eyelashes. She was so sweet and just chilled for most of the session. I know mom and dad are excited to see some pictures so I wanted to get the sneak peek up as soon as possible! It was great to meet the three of you, thank you for letting me photograph your little girl.

Sample Product | Float Wrap

One of my favorite products is the float wrap. It extends out from the wall which makes it really stand out. It's a photographic print or canvas print wrapped around masonite and protected with a laminate. Padding is added between the print and masonite to give it a raised, elegant look. This is another fun product. It's a photographic print mounted on a lightweight backing that adds a thick frame and comes ready to hang. You wouldn't believe how lightweight this is. It actually feels like it's no heavier than the print itself! This comes in various sizes. The one shown is 10x20 and is on a small easel.

I know I've been bad at keeping up with the blog lately and I apologize. I have some beautiful new studio samples to show everyone and plan to post pictures of them tomorrow.

For now I wanted to share a recent picture of my two year old daughter. I love this picture of her. I love it because it's her right now, the way she is. I love that she has a bruise on her arm, shows her toughness. I love that her nail polish is half off, shows the princess side of her and the not-so-princess side. I love that her hair is a little messed, shows that she doesn't care if she's not perfect. I love the expression on her face, it looks like she's up to something.
